# Majette Monster Mash 2026 Design System

## Brand idea

**Disc golf after dark.** The system combines a nocturnal, athletic foundation with hand-drawn monster character. It should feel mysterious and crafted—not glossy, cartoonish, or generically “Halloween.”

## Color architecture

### Core palette

| Role | Color | Hex | RGB |
|---|---|---:|---:|
| Primary field | Midnight Navy | `#081422` | 8, 20, 34 |
| Outer keylines / maximum contrast | Deep Ink | `#00041A` | 0, 4, 26 |
| Lettering / collar / light field | Warm Bone | `#EFE7CF` | 239, 231, 207 |
| Primary accent | Muted Ember | `#A62D17` | 166, 45, 23 |
| Red shading / inverted field | Ember Shadow | `#431519` | 67, 21, 25 |
| Feather highlight | Feather Slate | `#414957` | 65, 73, 87 |
| Feather shadow | Dark Slate | `#252E3C` | 37, 46, 60 |
| Neutral support | Moon Fog | `#AEB5BC` | 174, 181, 188 |

### Extended palette

These colors are for division coding, maps, schedules, merchandise capsules, and supporting campaign graphics. They should not replace the core navy–bone–ember identity.

| Role | Color | Hex | RGB |
|---|---|---:|---:|
| Natural green | Bay Pine | `#315947` | 49, 89, 71 |
| Secondary green | Spanish Moss | `#6E7C55` | 110, 124, 85 |
| Premium / winner accent | Harvest Gold | `#C59A3D` | 197, 154, 61 |
| Warm utility highlight | Lantern Orange | `#D97938` | 217, 121, 56 |

### Recommended proportion

Use approximately **70% Midnight Navy, 20% Warm Bone, 8% Muted Ember, and 2% optional supporting color**. Deep Ink, Ember Shadow, and the slates function primarily as outlines and modeling colors.

Do not place Muted Ember text on Midnight Navy for small copy; its contrast is insufficient. Warm Bone on Midnight Navy, Harvest Gold on Midnight Navy, and Warm Bone on Muted Ember are approved accessible text combinations.

## Typography

### Event display

Use **Jolly Lodger Regular** for the Majette Monster Mash wordmark and major campaign headlines only. Set the base typography first, then draw event-specific tails, wings, and framing accents as separate shapes. Do not stretch individual glyphs. Center the entire visible silhouette, including accents and underline, rather than the unmodified text box.

### Athletic and functional type

Use **Barlow Condensed**:

- Black for player numbers and PDGA numbers.
- Bold uppercase for `LASTNAME`, divisions, dates, locations, and utility labels.
- Tracking: `0.08–0.14em` for labels and names.
- Enable tabular figures for uniform numeric width.

Use **Source Sans 3** for schedules, registration information, sponsor copy, captions, and digital interfaces.

## Logo and illustration language

- Use Deep Ink for outer keylines.
- Use no more than Warm Bone, Muted Ember, and one slate inside a single primary mark.
- Ember identifies focal details: owl brows and eyes, talons, inner feather cuts, and short rules.
- Preserve the approved owl and feather silhouettes. Do not auto-trace, redraw loosely, add distressed texture, or introduce unapproved gradients.
- Minimum production keyline: **1.5 mm at final garment size**.
- Minimum clear space: **one cap-height around the wordmark** and **one-half crest width around the owl or Bay County mark**.

## Owl-eye underline

The underline is a centered, symmetrical brand device made from two directional tapered rules surrounding the owl eyes. It must remain visibly separated from the word `MASH`. Use Ember on the Midnight jersey and Bone or Midnight Navy on the Ember jersey, depending on the field beneath it.

## Jersey hierarchy

### Front

1. Event wordmark is the dominant centered mark.
2. Owl and Bay County Disc Golf marks behave as equal-weight soccer crests at the upper chest.
3. Title sponsor receives one dominant position only and must not overlap either crest or the event lockup.
4. Use optical centering based on the total decorated wordmark silhouette and owl-eye underline.

### Back

1. `LASTNAME` sits above the player number.
2. Large two-digit player number uses Barlow Condensed Black with Bone fill and Deep Ink keyline.
3. The owl sits centered below the number.
4. Keep sponsor placement outside the number's silhouette.

### Sleeves

- Six-digit PDGA number is set in Barlow Condensed Bold with tabular figures.
- Cooler may occupy one sleeve as the principal secondary sponsor.
- Additional partners use a consistent one-color treatment and align to a common visual height.

## Sponsor rules

- Preserve sponsor logo proportions and required clear space.
- Prefer one-color Warm Bone marks on Midnight Navy or one-color Deep Ink marks on Warm Bone.
- Recolor only when sponsor permission allows it.
- A title sponsor should be approximately 1.5–2 times the visual area of a secondary sponsor.
- Chest crests should occupy roughly 10–12% of front body width; sleeve sponsor art should remain roughly 18–22% of sleeve width.

## Colorway behavior

### Midnight jersey

Midnight Navy field, Warm Bone collar and lettering, Muted Ember focal accents, slate feather modeling, and Deep Ink keylines.

### Ember jersey

Ember Shadow or controlled dark-red field, restrained Muted Ember tonal feather, Warm Bone lettering, Midnight Navy/Deep Ink keylines, and limited Feather Slate highlights. Avoid bright scarlet.

## Quality-control checklist

- Does the design read clearly from ten feet away?
- Does the wordmark remain centered when accents are included?
- Is the underline separated from `MASH`?
- Are both chest crests optically equal and clear of the title sponsor?
- Are the feather and owl based on approved geometry?
- Is Muted Ember used as an accent rather than a second background?
- Are player name, number, owl, PDGA number, and sponsors legible at production size?
