About
I am a product leader who came up through engineering. I spent six years writing code on an FDA-regulated medical device product, moved into technical product management, and then spent the better part of a decade on the seam between two companies' software: APIs, marketplaces, technology partnerships, and the integrations that carry actual revenue rather than logos.
That seam is where I am most useful. It is also where most of the interesting failures live, because an integration is the one part of a product where you cannot control both sides and the documentation is usually wrong.
Lately most of my building time goes into AI tooling: Claude plugins and skill systems I use to do the rest of my job. The thing I keep learning is that writing an instruction and enforcing one are completely different activities, and only one of them survives measurement. I publish the failure rates along with the wins, because a system with no published failures has not been looked at hard enough.
I have taught at Florida State since 2013, first as a course mentor and since 2020 leading the instructional staff for Ethics and Information Technology, a course I developed that runs about a thousand students a year.
Outside of that I am the president of a disc golf 501(c)(3) in Bay County, Florida. Running a volunteer organization with no budget, no authority, and real stakeholders has taught me more about product than any job has. I wrote about whythat was my real MBA.
